Job Title: Grain Accountant

Location: 908 West Frontview, Dodge City, KS

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Grain Accountant to join our finance team. The Grain Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial transactions related to grain purchasing, sales, inventory, and reporting.

Job Overview: The Grain Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for all grain-related activities. This includes recording grain purchases, sales, inventory movements, pricing fluctuations, and related expenses. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience in the agricultural industry, and proficiency in financial software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record and reconcile grain purchases, sales, and inventory movements in the accounting system.
  • Monitor grain pricing trends and update pricing information in the accounting records.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports related to grain inventory, sales, margins, and profitability.
  • Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to ensure accurate recording of grain transactions and timely invoicing.
  • Reconcile grain inventory records with physical counts and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for grain-related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Provide support during audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, market trends, and regulatory changes affecting grain accounting practices.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in grain accounting procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience in accounting or financial analysis, preferably in the agricultural industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to upholding high standards of accuracy, integrity, and professionalism.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in office environment
  • Must be able to communicate over the telephone
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds if needed
